ABOUT US
Swift Kick Martial Arts Academy was born from a vision, a dream, a desire. The Name, logo and concept was drafted up long before the idea was first brought to life in November 2015. We operate similar to a not for profit organisation as we use money earned to purchase new equipment, and provide additional training courses to our students. Our future expectation is to be in a good financial position that will allow us to offer an in house college grant assistance to our members.
Swift Kick Martial Arts Academy is committed to providing a stimulating, creative and fun environment to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of your child. We offer various styles of Martial Arts and classes which include; Kickboxing, Satory Do Martial Arts, Sin Moo Hapkido, Sanshin-ryu Jujitsu, Boxing for Fitness, Fitness Classes, Air-floor sessions, Weapons Demonstrations, and Open Hand Demonstrations(Forms). Styles or classes that do not appear on our timetable are available for private lessons subject to instructor availability.
You can relax knowing that you or your child is in good hands as all our instructors have years of experience and are trained to the highest standard. At a minimum they are trained in First Aid, are Garda Vetted, have completed Safeguarding 1 (originally the code of ethics for young children and vulnerable adults), Also completed the Level 1 coaching requirement and of course they are Black Belts that are Recognised by Sport Ireland and the Irish Martial Arts Commission.
All our volunteers and helpers will have been trained in First Aid, Garda Vetted and have completed Safeguarding 1 (originally the code of ethics for young children and vulnerable adults).
Furthermore you can have a sense of comfort knowing you will be attending a facility that is kept up-to the highest standards(possibly in the country) with our clean and friendly environment, also our regularly updated protocols in relation to Child Safeguarding, Health & Safety, COVID 19.
MISSION STATEMENT;
Our mission at Swift Kick Martial Arts Academy is to pass knowledge and experience of the martial arts onto others through a fun and friendly environment for self-defence and fitness. Our students are the core of Swift Kick Martial Arts Academy and our aim is to help each student reach their full potential by providing a clear curriculum to help in that process. We hope to encourage as many individuals and families to lead a healthier lifestyle, and to show them the positive benefits of the martial arts and we will be here to assist them in reaching their martial arts and fitness-related goals

Benefits of Martial Arts
Physical
If practiced regularly it will provide a cardiovascular workout, it will help develop, muscle tone, strength, flexibility balance and concentration, it is considered to be an effective total body workout. In a recent study by US Fitness magazine it was proven that a kickboxing class can burn an impressive 800 calories an hour. It will help maintain weight and body fat controls and bone density. The skill taught can be used in self-defence, if needed. (Kickboxing Ireland, 2014)
Psychological
It is considered to be calming and relaxing, it requires a high degree of concentration and focus to be able to deliver the multiple movements, punches and kicks. Focus is often on helping body and spirit feel centred and connected to each other. (Kickboxing Ireland, 2014)
Lifestyle Benefits
It can be practiced alone or with others. Group introduction is widely available, it is accessible to people of wildly ranging ages and fitness levels, equipment in the initial stages is minimal and equipment is primarily inexpensive. (Kickboxing Ireland, 2014)

Kickboxing comprises boxing and kicking techniques, to forum combinations. Practiced doing air drills, defences, pad work, bag work and sparring (routines & free-spar) in semi contact, light contact, full contact, K1, kick light and low kick.
Sin Moo Hapkido is a Korean Martial Art, which combines the soft styles of Hapkido, Kung Fu and Judo along with aggressive Korean techniques. There are hundreds/thousands of techniques, for all different kinds of self defence situations. It was developed by Grand-master Ji Han Jae.
In SATORY DO, the aim here is to develop in a fighter the speed of a point fighter, the heart of a full contact fighter, the toughness of a knockdown fighter and the mind of a old Master who has experienced everything that could possibly happen in a fight.
Forms and Weapons are a non-contact element of kickboxing. They are made up of various moves and combinations to form a demonstration, the demonstration displays a synchronised routine to stimulate a fighting situation.
Sanshin-ryu is translated as: School of three minds.
Jujitsu is translated as: gentle art.
The three minds refer to the three main styles or schools of thought that were used to create the system. They are:

Boxing for fitness class designed to assist weight loss, muscle tone, increased fitness and all the fun of training like a boxer without the contact.The typical structure of the class will be a warm up including basic techniques, five rounds of bag work three minutes long which will focus on either combinations, pyramid, cardio, legs or abs.
This class is based on a boxing for fitness program that has been modified to facilitate kicking routines. This will provide a more diverse group of muscles being worked out during the class. The typical structure of the class will be a warm up including basic techniques, five rounds of bag work three minutes long which will focus on either combinations, pyramid, cardio, legs or abs.
This class will vary from session to session combining boxing for fitness, kick-boxercise, Thai-boxercise, Fitness training, circuit training, TABATA, etc. A full varied workout combining a variety of disciplines on different days, so don’t miss training as you never know what you might be missing out on.
This session is a practice session using the Air floor to learn and land new tricks. Previous experience essential and must notify in advance to see if you are eligible. Also Limited numbers allowed per session.
This class is a fitness program that will focus on different areas of the body on different days. Not just focusing on muscle groups but cardio and speed as well. It will be conducted using different fitness regimes like circuit training, TABATA, etc. It will provide a more diverse group of muscles being worked out during the class. The typical structure of the class will be a warm up, demonstration of the exercises for the class, workout, cool down.

They are outstanding in their dedication, care & professionalism. In these tough times the time & effort put into the proper training of young people is over & above. This ethos is carried on from preCovid & it is to be applauded. As a club the facilities are excellent and the care shown in all facets of training is excellent.
